Listing & Removal Policy

How directory listings are created, reviewed, corrected and removed.

CounselStrata does not provide legal advice. Information on this website is provided for general informational and reference purposes only.

How listings are created

A listing may be created from publicly available professional information, or from information submitted directly by a legal professional or an authorised representative of a firm.

A listing records factual reference information only. It is not a profile written by CounselStrata about the quality of a professional's work, and it is not marketing material produced on their behalf.

How information is reviewed

Where verification information is available, publicly available professional and licensing information is reviewed for consistency. Fields with no recorded information are omitted from the listing rather than filled with placeholder content.

CounselStrata makes reasonable efforts to review information using publicly available sources, but cannot guarantee that all information remains current, complete or accurate at all times.

How corrections are handled

Anyone can report information they believe to be inaccurate, outdated or incomplete using the correction form. Each request is reviewed individually.

Submitting a request does not mean it will automatically be accepted. Where a request cannot be actioned — for example, because it conflicts with the publicly available information we hold — we will not make the change.

How professionals can request changes

Legal professionals and authorised representatives can request an update to any field in a listing, including firm, office location, practice area, languages and admission information.

We may ask for publicly verifiable information to support a requested change before it is applied.

How removal requests are handled

A legal professional, or an authorised representative acting for them, can request removal of a listing. Removal requests are reviewed and actioned where the request is properly identified.

Removal does not require a reason to be given. Where a listing is removed, it is removed from the directory and from directory search results.

How outdated information is addressed

Listings may be reviewed periodically. Where a review date is recorded for a listing, that date is displayed so users can judge how current the information is. Where no review date is recorded, no date is shown.

Because professional status can change at any time, users should confirm current credentials and standing with the relevant licensing or regulatory authority before engaging legal counsel.

Placement is not for sale

CounselStrata does not sell favorable placement. Position within search results is determined by the search and filter criteria a user applies, not by payment.

CounselStrata does not endorse or recommend any legal professional or firm, and does not act as an intermediary between users and legal professionals.
